Since then, he has facilitated a number of programs and services by providing educational and social services to immigrants and refugees throughout the state of Rhode Island, preparing and assisting senior citizens with permanent resident status to Become U.S. Citizens free of charge through N-400 and I-912 applications, collaborating with community organizations in our homeless referral programs for people searching for suitable homes, and liaising with pro-bono attorneys in the State of Rhode Island for legal representation of low-income individuals, unemployed and veterans.
Mr. Marte community work history can be traced back to 1980 when he volunteered as an Art teacher at the Opa-locka public library, where he had the opportunity to teach basics of pencil and brush drawing, as well as sculpting, while working full-time at one if the many financial institutions that he dedicated over 37 years of work experience. In 1994, Mr. Marte volunteered at the Legal Services of Greater Miami by translating legal documents from English to Spanish and representing clients in family courts, public schools, and hospitals. In 2003, Mr. Marte found himself in a familiar territory when he became resident of the State of Rhode Island, where he noticed that the Hispanic community was not being represented in public and private affairs. For this reason, he decided to run for the Rhode Island Senate, receiving over 3,500 votes in an Anglo-Saxon district. Later, Mr. Marte went onto other political endeavors that led him to become the Chairman of the Hispanic Republican Assembly and Special Assistant to Governor Lincoln Chafee, making Mr. Marte the first Hispanic appointed to this position in the state of Rhode Island.
Today Ivan G. Marte is a retired executive from the financial industry and a well-known community leader in the state of Rhode Island who lives in the city of Cranston with his wife Rocio and his four (4) daughters. He is well respected by government officials and business leaders alike and has been publicly praised by the Hispanic press and local radio stations as a person of high integrity and high moral values and one of the most credible and responsible leader in the state.
